Ergo Tuning Hammer is designed with the intent of creating a tool that is adapted for you rather than you having to adapt to it.
The handles are primarily sculpted from apple or arbutus branches locally sourced in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Should you have a particularly favored piece of wood from which you would like a handle made, feel free to send it to me.
The shape generally has a roundish, pear-shaped top end with an oblong shank intended to provide comfortable options for hand placement. The handle, however, is completely customizable to your preference.
They are finished using amazing, 100% non-toxic products from Odie's Oil.

The insert used in the Ergo tuning hammer was invented by Doug Schmidt, engineer Ken Stokes, in collaboration with piano technician Deborah McCann.
Brendan and Matt Melin, from Access Precision Machine, contributed their brilliance in perfecting the final design (http://accessprecision.com).
The intent was to achieve a 90-degree angle from the pin to the head while concurrently maintaining sufficient hammer clearance above the plate struts and/or upright lid overhang—all while striving to optimize tuning pin control. The insert has an initial bend of 45 degrees while moving away from the tuning tip, followed by a 43-degree bend in the opposite direction, producing a 2-degree deflection from the plane of the plate. This angle can be adjusted to personal preference.
The insert has a 10 mm fine female thread that can readily accept a Jahn-style tuning tip. An adapter is provided, should you wish to use a 3/8 x 30 TPI Hale-style tuning tip. The lever is constructed from stainless steel, with a total weight of 195 g or 6.87 oz.
Quick cases are for your tuning essentials. Hammer, mutes, a couple of regulation and voicing tools. They are are narrow with rigid sides so that they can be placed on the ledge of the piano. There is an extra strong magnet in flap fastener which serves as screw containment.
For piano technicians who are members of PTG, CAPT, or OGPT, payment is not required until you have used the hammer for a few days and are of the opinion that this tuning hammer is fantastic!
